From an early age Rene fell in love with fishing and the outdoors.
At the age of 19 he was in the New Zealand Fly Fishing Team and held this positon until the age of twenty three when he retired from competition fishing and also as the New Zealand fly fishing champion, an outstanding achievement.
A Masters Degree with Honours in Fisheries Biology and Management, Rene has gained a remarkable following in the fishing industry and in 2009 passed another examination to become a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Instructor.
